I also need a draft

Your Critical Analysis Essay will be the starting point for this project.

STEP 1: Narrow down/revise your thesis statement if necessary. Make sure your thesis is focused enough to address and support in 4-5 pages.
STEP 2: Conduct a search for credible, academic/peer reviewed sources. You probably will find more sources than you actually use in the final paper.
STEP 3: Use your sources to find documented support for each of the claims or reasons in the body of your essay. Take accurate notes.
STEP 4: Anticipate readers’ responses, questions, and alternate points of view. You may, but do not have to, use a documented source to establish an APV. Determine how you will address the most important of these. Use at least one documented source to help you address the APV.
STEP 5: DRAFT your essay to get a general sense of organization, get your ideas down and assess whether you have enough support from sources. Resist the temptation to merely “plug in” research into your existing essay. You may need to rewrite.
–Your FINAL DRAFT should have
– an INTRODUCTION paragraph, in which you establish definitions (if necessary), establish WHY your claim is significant (SO WHAT?), and make your claim/THESIS at the end of the intro. paragraph.
– at least 2 BODY PARAGRAPHS in which you establish REASONS and EVIDENCE to support your thesis, and use documented sources to help you do so.
– at least 1 BODY PARAGRAPH in which you ACKNOWLEDGE & RESPOND to readers’ questions/alternate points of view (APV).
– a CONCLUSION paragraph to sum up your argument and provide closure.
-You will need to use (quote, summarize, paraphrase) at least 5 outside sources in your final draft.
-You will need to use MLA Format to create in-text citations and a WORKS CITED PAGE.
STEP 6: Get feedback on your draft from instructors, peers, the Writing Center, any anyone whose observations you trust.
STEP 7: REVISE, EDIT and PROOFREAD your draft for submission.

150 points: Content (strength of thesis, quality of support, unity, coherence, etc).
50 points: MLA Format for in-text citations, works cited page, and other formatting
